The complete eICAT system consists of a Palm handheld computer with a data collection program that synchronises with a customised relational database. The database has six modules allowing for data collection and analysis of:
- Surgical site surveillance
- Targeted or continuous surveillance of nominated sentinel surgical procedure(s) (SSP)
- Surveillance Reports include NNIS risk index categorization and ACHS rate definitions
- Post discharge surveillance option
| Bacteraemia - Basic data collection and subanalysis of hospital and community acquired events
- Continuous analysis for identification of unexpected increases in infection rates (EWMA charts)
- Denominator options allowing for ACHS indicator and other rates
- Device related infections
- IV Catheter Related Infection
- Urinary Tract Infection
- Ventilator-associated pneumonia
- Input for all denominator data
| | - Significant organisms
- Antibiotic Resistant Organisms Organisms with significant infection control consequences
- Analysis is directed toward determining the incidence of organism
- Paediatric
- This module is for use in paediatric hospitals or units as markers of hospital and community acquired respiratory syncytial virus and rotavirus infection.
- Staff health
- Pre-employment screening with staff risk stratification
- Scheduling of appointments and documenting of tests and vaccinations
- Monitoring of occupational exposures
- Automated and customised tabular and graphical analysis of exposures including continuous analysis for identification of increases in the mean rate
- Generation of lists and letters for follow-up scheduling
With this information at your fingertips, informed decisions can be made quickly and accurately to resolve important infection control problems.
